There’s really only one way to settle this debate, you know: Try ‘em out for yourself.

When Mars first rolled out Hazelnut Spread M&M’s last year, people were pretty excited. After all, hazelnut + chocolate = a winning combo. But apparently you can improve upon perfection after all.

The company just revealed that Hazelnut Spread M&M’s have a new recipe (it’s emblazoned on the package and everything) and Instagram account @JunkBanter has the details.

Fudge Brownie M&M’s are the new kid on the block, but @mmschocolate has very quietly improved the recipe to the Hazelnut M&M’s as well,” they wrote. “Where did y’all stand on these before? I feel like the response was a little underwhelming, and apparently M&M’s agreed.”

The new filling is a darker brown color—likely due to an increase in chocolate, @JunkBanter wrote. The M&M’s also taste “much more like Nutella than it did before,” they wrote, adding, “an improvement for sure! If you didn’t try the original recipe or thought they were lackluster, now’s a great time to give them a go.”

Reactions in the comments were definitely mixed. “Can’t wait to try. The first ones were not very hazelnutty,” one person wrote. “I feel like the old ones tasted like a standard m&m. Excited to see how these hold up against the old recipe,” another said.

But some people said they preferred the OG version: “I’m not a fan of the new hazelnut recipe! I was so disappointed when I bought the big bag and they weren’t as good as the old ones,” someone said. “I personally already liked them before,” another person confirmed.
